Gary Bradburn- USA
Brief biography of Gary
Bradburn:
Gary Bradburn of Wichita, KS, has been
making top quality knives for many
years. He is a dark horse to those who
have not yet bought one of his tanto,
and a gold mine to those who know and
treasure his work. Currently his focus is
on Japanese style knives ranging from
miniscule key-ring versions to larger
eight-inch bladed Shobu tanto and an
occasional wakizashi. The larger shobu,
which he calls a Hogosha, has an
eight-inch blade and is perfect for
reverse grip use.
The Hogosha is one of the
most awesome cutting knives
that I own! Although a bit
lighter in weight than a
traditional Bowie knife, the
Hogosha rates right up there
with any comparably sized
Bowie for cutting ability. Gary’s
Shobu tanto, in any size, are
works of art that really cut! The
blades are hand forged and
ground to shape. Then they
are zone hardened using the
traditional clay coating method
used for centuries by Japanese
swordsmiths.
Gary’s tempering methods not only create very hard and sharp edges; they also reveal beautiful
hamon reminiscent of the finest Japanese blades. Gary will also produce the same patterns in a hard
using knife in D-2 if you prefer. At he present time we do not have any Bradurn knives on our website
for sale. Despite that, we heartily recommend Gary and his work. Please contact him direct to place an
order. You will never regret buying a Bradburn Shobu tanto.
